Cafe Church - the first Cafe Church service at St Ives Methodist Church for 2010, led by Matt Finch. A different take on a traditional format. The church was rearranged, with all the chair moved to be seated around tables, with fresh coffee, Sunday newspapers and plenty of sitting and chatting, hence the name cafe church. In order for you to get a small taste of what this morning was like, you'll find most of the morning recorded here in this podcast - you'll join the coffee-drinking crowd about 10 minutes in as they're relaxed and comfortable, digesting the colour supplements, catching up with friends or just taking in the atmosphere - and possibly wondering exactly why there is a giant inflatable mug of tea at the front of the church! The "chatty times" on the tables are paused out so you don't need to fast forward through them. To learn more about cafechurch@simc, visit our website www.simc.co.uk Unfortunately, for copyright reasons it is necessary to remove the songs as we can't broadcast them. You can also watch the short fairtrade video clip used in the service at www.thebigswap.org.uk (it's also on our website front page throught Fairtrade Fortnight) . Towards the end of the service, Matt challenges everyone to respond to the black bin appeal - a chance to support local families struggling to look after themselves. |
